Consumer safety group says skip the deep-fried turkey - Holy Kaw!: "Just in case your cholesterol count and arteries weren’t already begging you to just bake the bird, Underwriters Laboratories is pulling its approval (that little “UL” mark) off all turkey fryers this year.
According to the U.S. Fire Administration, sixty-nine percent of the 4300 fires that take place on Thanksgiving Day are due to the use of fryers, with the following states claiming the top ten spots: Texas, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, New York, Florida, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Missouri and South Carolina."
