I have often heard it said by folks (usually ones that use PC as a pejorative) that politically correct speech is a club that is used to protect the delicate feelings of those that can't face the real world. I look at it differently. I think of it as simply being the recognition that my feelings might not be the only ones that matter and so I should think about what words I am using because someone else might be hurt by my words.
In other words, I think of it as not acting like a child and accepting that it isn't always about me.
Some folks seem to think I occasionally have interesting things to say. I don't always agree.

Paul Gigot - Deeply concerned
Wall Street Journal editor: Don’t hike minimum wage because workers ‘learn’ from poverty:
"“Look, I worked for the minimum wage,” he explained. “Two bucks an hour back in the 1970s. I had jobs that — what did I learn? I learned to show up on time, I learned certain skills, and I learned I didn’t want to make the rest of my life so I better get an education.”"
