Pilots that should be unemployed Next week

Pilot Refuses To Fly With Muslim Men On Board | TPMDC:
"Two Muslim men were removed from a Delta commuter flight operated by Atlantic Southeast Airlines Friday after the pilot refused to fly with them on board."

If this is even close to the case then the pilot should be dismissed. He does not have the right to decide who he will and will not allow to travel.

Math Genius Solves 100 Year Old Problem, Then Refuses Million Dollar Prize - Techland - TIME.com: "His reward? One million dollars and the Fields Medal, or the math world's equivalent of the Nobel Prize. But the private Perelman shrugged off the invite to accept the cash, saying that the knowledge he gained from proving the conjecture was more valuable than any monetary gain."

What We Know about Climate Change

Wow, do they really want to go there - Anti-vax edition

The annals of "I'm not anti-vaccine," part 8 (argumentum ad Nazium edition #3, 2011) : Respectful Insolence: "When the trains left for Auschwitz and Buchenwald many of the doomed passengers took suitcases with them surely expecting to return home from this 'camp'. God knows what lies the Nazis told these poor people to get them on those trains. Same with the vaccines. We are repeatedly told they are safe when they are loaded with dangerous toxins. Our children are being poisoned right in front of our eyes and we're being told that it's all in our heads."

Some people have too much time on their hands

On mass executions for no good reason

I guess fish don't count : Pharyngula: "No such rules apply if you are a Christian priest.

Well, yesterday's sermon was a big hit! We had a mass execution of 200 feeder fish that I pulled out of a fish tank and then threw all over the floor. The kids were in shock and then started to pic them up and put them back into the fish tank. Obviously, most of them died in the effort…the point however was made that they cared ore about .15 cent feeder fish then they do about their friends dying w/o Christ."

Pam Geller forgets what flak is

Muslim-Basher Pamela Geller Pushes Another Obama Fairy Tale, Proudly | Hatewatch | Southern Poverty Law Center: "Geller – who thrives on any attention, favorable or not – on Tuesday clucked, “My first blog on this subject had heads exploding across the blogosphere. It definitely hit a chord. What is it that they say? If you are getting a lot of flak, you know you have hit the target.” (Note to Geller: If you’re getting a lot of flak, you are the target.)"

What David Barton Believes

David Barton Advocates Seven Mountains Dominionism | Right Wing Watch: "As we have explained before, Seven Mountains dominionism seeks to place Christians in control over the seven forces that shape and control our culture: (1) Business; (2) Government; (3) Media; (4) Arts and Entertainment; (5) Education; (6) Family; and (7) Religion. The reason for this, as Lance Wallnau, the leading advocate for Seven Mountains theology, explained is that Jesus 'doesn't come back until He's accomplished the dominion of nations.' And the way 'dominion of nations' is accomplished is by having Christians gain control of these 'seven mountains' in order to install a 'virtual theocracy' overseen by 'true apostles' who will fight Satan and his Antichrist agenda."

How Many Gays Must God Create Before We Accept That He Wants Them Around?

This is brilliant

Amusing way to get cheaper flights

How to Beat High Airfares - NYTimes.com: "Well, there’s a way to save some of that money. It’s called “hidden-city ticketing,” but before I explain how to execute the maneuver, you’re going to need some background. Passengers flying to or from airports that are dominated by a single carrier — like Memphis, Newark or Dallas/Fort Worth — pay fares 20 or 30 percent higher than at non-hub airports. The prices are even more inflated when you’re flying from a smaller city with a limited number of flights. A nonstop one-way ticket from Des Moines to Dallas/Fort Worth is $375 on American Airlines, for example — more than the $335 Delta will charge you to fly from Miami to Anchorage."

yes it WAS legal

Yglesias » Killing Osama Bin Laden Is Legal: "In a domestic context, I think the 9/11 AUMF has been put to some questionable uses since its passage but if authorized anything surely it authorized military action against Bin Laden. Meanwhile, Bin Laden considered himself to be at war with the United States. In an international law context, the use of military force is plainly authorized by UN Security Council Resolution 1368 which uses the magic words “inherent right of individual or collective self-defence,” “threat to international peace and security,” and “all necessary steps.” That’s how the UN Charter says “bombs away.” And this has all been reaffirmed since Bin Laden’s death by the Security Council and the Secretary General of the United Nations."

On War Porn in the Senate

Senators Just Passing Around Fake Pictures of bin Laden on Their Blackberries | Swampland: "But what’s even worse is that some unidentified senator, according to Ayotte, felt compelled to start passing this bogus image around to his or her lawmaker pals on an “electronic device.” (Read: cellphone.) Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss was duped by this casual hoax too. “I was shown a photo by an individual that was represented to be a photo of bin Laden after he’d been shot,” he said. “It appeared to be an accurate photo. It was not an official photo.” When asked why he thought it was real, Chambliss said, “Well, it looked like it was a picture of bin Laden.” Yikes. Photoshop has been around since 1988. Reckless hearsay, on the other hand, is at least as old as the United States Senate."

Random Thoughts

Sitting here sweating after playing around on the wii fit and some things popped into my mind so I thought that I would turn them into some bloggy goodness.

  • It is never a good idea to stay in a job you don't like just because it pays well.
  • It is always a good thing when you are loved by someone
  • Depression sucks
  • It is a good idea to take a bit of a vacation from time to time even if you don't think that you can really afford the time and/or the money. It really is true that no one ever died wishing that they had spent more time at the office.
  • It is daunting having a 16 year old child. Even one that is a great young lady.
  • It pays to be friends with your ex-wife.
  • Never be afraid to take a chance. If you don't try then you can be assured that you will not succeed.
That's my pile of fluffy thoughts for the moment.
