on Blogging

Just not feeling it anymore.
Not sure if i need a complete break for a while but expect things to be very sporadic until further notice.

An inconvenient truth about Healthcare

Conservatives Want You To Shop For Your Medical Care. Do You? | The New Republic: "There’s something terribly wrong with the whole notion of patients as “consumers” and health care as simply a financial transaction."

I Really Must stop Reading Andrew Sullivan

The Quiet End To Roe v. Wade? - The Dish | By Andrew Sullivan - The Daily Beast:
"My italics. The logic of the whole piece is that this is a likely future, not a present reality. But it's easy to misread. What's dismaying is that this sloppy sentence leads Ponnuru to dismiss Lithwick's entire body of work as fallacious. It's anything but."

Because he keeps giving hacks a pass when they willfully misrepresent something that is said. The sentence in question is not "easy to misread" if you are, like Ramesh Ponnuru, a summa cum laude graduate of one of the top 10 universities in the world. I seemed to comprehend it just fine despite being in a significantly weakened state of mental agility and having a degree from only a lowly Canadian school.

Strange Tweet of The Day - Glenn Greenwald Edition

Twitter / @Glenn Greenwald: How small and broken a bra ...:
"How small and broken a brain is required to equate (a) praise for a candidate's specific views & their impact with (b) supporting them?"

How silly of me to think that saying lots of nice things about someone is supporting them. I guess I need a new dictionary.
Mr Greenwald is apparently feeling the heat of being outed as not exactly a leftist. Not that it should have been news to anyone that ever paid attention. I often enjoy reading his stuff but I never had any illusion that he shared my pinko family values.

This really is the Al Franken Decade

Al Franken To Steve Jobs On iPhone Tracking: I Want Answers | TPM Idea Lab: "Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) wants answers. After reports Wednesday that Apple's iPhones and iPads secretly store information of the user's location, Franken wrote Apple CEO Steve Jobs a strongly worded letter."

Andrew Sullivan Doesn't Understand McMegan's Schtick

By Tax Hikes Alone? Ctd - The Dish | By Andrew Sullivan - The Daily Beast: "But reading Megan closely, I'm not sure she simply meant federal income taxes alone. Perhaps the debate will clarify this some more in the future."

This is classic McMegan. Leave enough wiggle room so that when her basic premise is pointed out to be bullshit she can move to a "but I really meant" without her glibertarian fanboy base completely losing their erections.

Andrew obviously mistakes Ms McArdle for someone with integrity.

Silly Andrew.

Dilbert vs the sockpuppet

Why sockpuppetry is stupid : Pharyngula: "Because when you're exposed, you look like an even more gargantuan idiot and pathetic narcissist. Scott Adams, creator of Dilbert, has been discovered to have tried to pad his reputation with a fake ID … he's used the pseudonym 'PlannedChaos' to go around the web praising Scott Adams as a 'certified genius'."

Racist Asshole of the day - Grady Warren Edition

Grady, if you don't want people to call you a racist asshole then you probably shouldn't show all the signs of being one. It is purely descriptive IMHO.
