Analysis: What's ahead for Obama in the next 100 days - CNN.com
A large part of what is wrong with this country is that the time horizon for too many is too short. The problem is that it means that you find solutions that look good at the moment but that are substantially less than the best solution. In the world of optimization this is known as finding local maxima rather than a truly optimal solution.
Take a look at this graphic* and hopefully you will see what I mean.
Imagine that you walking around that graph on a foggy day (yeah I know). You get to the top of the little hill and in every direction you look you see that it is downhill. When the fog lifts, then you will see that you are still in the foothills.
If we stay in the 100 day (or fiscal quarter .. odd how close in length they are) fog then I fear that we will never become as great a nation as we could be. I know that I am not satisfied with that. Are you?

The second 100 days will be a critical test of Obama's power in getting key legislative priorities -- such as economic recovery, health care, energy and immigration -- passed.
