A question to my gun-owning readers

To my gun-owning readers, and I know I have quite a few of them, please explain to me what your problem with mandatory background checks, training and liability insurance would be. Please do not use the phrase "the government wants to confiscate my guns" because that is paranoia not reality. My guess is that none of my gun-owning friends would actually have a problem with these because my gun-owing friends are sane people.

Feel free to prove me wrong though.
