"Chen Guangcheng, the Chinese human rights activist who ignited a diplomatic frenzy when he escaped house arrest last month, has left Beijing airport Saturday on a flight bound for New York.
He and his family boarded a United flight from Beijing to Newark International Airport which is due to arrive Saturday evening in New York."
